YOGA IN TURKEY - NOW FULLY BOOKED - 2011 TRIP PLANNED!

In June 2009 I taught yoga for the first time at the delightful Grenadine Lodge Yoga hotel in Dalyan Turkey. It was a truly enjoyable experience and I will be returning there for a week commencing October 4th in 2010.

This year's holiday will once again be bookable through www.freespirituk.com and to ensure that we get flights at the best possible bargain prices and flight times it is advisable to book flights as early as possible.  Traveling on the same flight as other guests will save money on transfers to and from the airport.  Prices for the holiday start at £375.00 per person sharing to £525.00 for a pool side suite with terrace and single person supplement and exclude flights.

HOLIDAY INFORMATION

The holiday at Grenadine Lodge, Dalyan will include morning and evening yoga sessions in a fantastic venue with miles of beautiful unspoilt beach, turtles, riverboats, mud baths, hot springs, bicycles and great food. The Grenadine Lodge Yoga Hotel is situated on its own in the unspoilt area between the village of Dalyan and the beach. Lots of single rooms, plus twins, double and small suites all with air conditioning and their own facilities including outdoor space.

If you can tear yourself away from the hotel swimming pool, small buses will stop by the hotel entrance every hour taking you to the beach. Or you can take one of the riverboats from the village, a slow 15 minutes walk away (3 minutes by taxi) or a short cycle ride. Iztutu beach is within the national park. There are no buildings at or around the beach as it is a conservation area with extremely strict access rules to protect the turtles which nest there. At each end of the very long beach are changing huts, a cafe and sun beds with parasols. The boats arrive at one end and the buses at the other - in between these nothing but sand and sea.

Aygul is the the lovely manager of the hotel which she runs with her mother. During our stay in June she could not have been more helpful. The hotel is outside the village surrounded fields, mountains, its own orchard and gardens side. The hotel swimming pool is shaped in the regions of Turkey. It has a small waterfall and a Jacuzzi, plus lots more sunshades than are shown in the picture . It can to be viewed www.freespirituk.com website. There is also a typical Turkish tree house where students can relax and small groups of us do yoga nidra and restorative sessions.  There is small bar beside the pool and the bartender is happy to make fresh juices using fruits from the hotel orchards and all the usual alcoholic and and hot drinks.

Besides visiting the beach we can also arrange a variety of trips; we can rise early one morning to see the turtles as they sunbathe on the river. There are also hot springs, mud baths and a huge lake to explore - its a very beautiful region. A fantastic day out is the Ten Island Boat Trip on a traditional Turkish gulet. On Saturday mornings there is a large market in Dalyan village selling local produce, spices, fabrics etc.

If you are interested in history there is the ancient city of Kaunas on the other side of the river or travel further afield to the Ghost Town at Kayaky which is exactly as it was when the Greeks left Turkey to return to Greece. In fact buses from Dalyan can take you all over the surrounding area and with no Euro in Turkey everything feels like a bargain compares to the rest of Europe.
