THE VENUE

Our retreat venue is a peaceful, private, residents only hotel offering water’s edge accommodation in beautifully appointed cottages with private terraces, air conditioning , ensuite & sea views. Some even hang right over the sea & have hot tubs & hammocks on their balconies!

This year the hotel has built us a brand new purpose built yoga deck directly above the water’s edge with stunning views across the bay!

THE HOTEL

The hotel has  the advantage of being right on the water’s edge & is only open to residents. On our visit it was deserted & we were delighted by the bedrooms & terraces of the individual cottages, all set in beautiful landscaped gardens with plenty of privacy. There is also a gorgeous infinity pool & panoramic views of the stunning coastline we are all so fond of.

The shaded poolside restaurant & bar, numerous decks & comfortable lounging platforms (some hanging right over the ocean) provide plenty of areas to socialise, rest & relax. The hotel also has direct access via a swimming platfom right into the Aegean Sea!


THE ACCOMODATION

The attractive wooden & stone cottages that provide our accommodation are beautifully furnished & all have en suites, air-conditioning & their own terraces with views overlooking the sea & surrounding mountains.
PLEASE NOTE, cottages will be allocated on a first booked first served basis!

A limited number of superior, water front luxury cottages are also available upon request at an additional cost.

Rooms are set on terraces surrounded by the organic gardens which are planted with lemon, olive, apricot, banana, mulberry, pomegranate & peach trees. Roses & geraniums, jasmine & lavender give out their wonderful scents on balmy evenings & the grapevine & morning glory covered terraces provide relaxing shady spaces to enjoy drinks or dinner.

THE FOOD

The restaurant here serves freshly-sourced Mediterranean cuisine.

The restaurant has meat on its lunchtime a la carte menu. However as a gentle means of encouraging a yogic shift in outlook & eating habits the meals we eat together in the evening as a group on our yoga holidays are vegetarian with the occasional option of having fish.

For those in the group who feel unable to challenge themselves to a week without meat, no-one is going to object to them ordering it at lunchtime! However we would really like you to give it a try as a small way embracing new experiences & letting go of set habits. You might be pleasantly surprised at how it makes you feel to leave meat out of your diet for a few days

The hotel will also do its best to accommodate any dietery needs & allergies. We will be having a meeting on the first morning of the holiday where these requests can be made. Anyone with a serious nut allergy must please inform the me or the hotel in advance of arrriving.

We will have 8 delicious breakfasts & 6 evening meals at the retreat hotel so that the group has the option of eating elsewhere including visiting The Olive Garden, (the location of our many of our past retreats in Turkey) on two evenings.

Wine, beer & spirits are sold & will be added to your bill at the end of the week. The restaurant also serves delicious seasonal juices.

THE YOGA

Yoga classes will take place morning & afternoon commencing on Sunday morning. We will have 10 yoga sessions of varying lengths & content. Attending the yoga sessions is completely optional. There is never any pressure for guests to take part in every class & non-participating partners are also most welcome.

I don’t belong to any particular school of yoga & I teach in a spontaneous, non-dogmatic way. Students work at their own pace with a strong emphasis on taking what they need that day from the practice & leaving out what they don’t.

In general, the morning yoga sessions in Turkey, will comprise more dynamic & energetic flowing yoga with modifications offered to suit the individual levels of students & pranayama (breathing techniques).

The late afternoon/early evening yoga classes will include slower asana practice, with some poses held longer for deepening, yin yoga, gentle & restorative sessions, pranayama, guided relaxations, yoga nidra & meditations.


MASSAGE & THERAPIES

Massage treatments take place on one of the shaded relaxaion areas with a spectacular view over the bay. We will be using the same practitioners that we have used on our more recent retreats & many of our guests have said that they are the best treatments they’ve ever experienced! Techniques include Shiatsu, Aromatherapy, Thai Massage, Dorn-Breuss, Sports Massage & Indian Head Massage.


OTHER ACTIVITIES

To enjoy swimming & snorkelling in the Aegean Sea we have direct access from the hotels purpose built swimming platform.

Nearby are several beaches where guests can also hire kayaks or take a trip in the local boats. There are a number of beach bars & restaurant tucked away behind the beaches.

PARASCENDING

The area is also famous for tandem parascending from nearby Baba Dag mountain. The views of the turquoise coast & the famous Blue Lagoon at Olu Deniz from the air are spectacular.

HISTORY

Those more interested in history than retail therapy will be able to visit, albeit a little further afield the historic sites of Xanthos, Tlos or Pinara. Here there are archaeological remains such as temples, amphitheatres, mosaics and tombs from the Lycian, Greek & Roman periods. The Turks wear their relics lightly & it is incredible that visitors can walk so intimately among them. The hotel’s staff can help guests to arrange taxi or mini bus trips to all of these places.


Shopping

For shopping during the stay, local buses or taxis can be taken from the road above the hotel to Olu Deniz and Fethiye. Olu Deniz is a touristy low rise beach resort with many shops, bars & restaurants as well as a stunning blue lagoon which is considered to have healing properties. As beach resorts go its not too bad & can add a lively diversion!

Fethiye is a thriving, typically Turkish coastal market town with a 16th century Turkish bath, ancient rock tombs, weekly farmer’s market, daily fish market with its excellent seafood restaurants, traditional middle eastern souk, carpet shops & a busy marina with adjacent cafes and gardens. Designer hand-bags, often manufactured in Turkey, despite their Italian, British or French labels have proven to be a big attraction with some of the yoga groups in the past!

SAMPLE DAILY ITINERARY

7.30am Morning tea, coffee, fruit juice

8.00am Morning Yoga – slow flow yoga with pranayama & meditation

10.00am Brunch

11.30am Daytime activities including optional group walks, excursions or free time to relax & unwind in the grounds, pool & neighbouring beach.

5.45pm Evening Yoga – yin, gentle or restorative yoga with Yoga Nidra or Guided Relaxation & Meditation

7.45pm Evening Meal


LOCATION

Our charming is situated on the water’s edge in the Faralya district close to the famous Butterfly Valley & overlooking the beautiful bay beyond Olu Deniz. It is a 20 minute drive from the popular beach resort of the same name & a 45 minute drive from the bustling market town of Fethiye.

Getting There:

The nearest airport is Dalaman, which is about a 70 minute drive away, while Antalya is about 4 hours’ drive. There is an intercity bus terminal in Fethiye. Chartered & scheduled flights to Dalaman airport include: Thomas Cook, Easy Jet, Thompson, Pegasus, BA & Turkish Airlines.

Transfers

Once you have booked your flights, please contact me to confirm your flight details. We can help you to contact other members of the group with whom you can arrange to share taxis to the hotel from the airport. This will substantially reduce the cost of the transfer. Another option is to arrange car hire with other participants.

Nearer to the time of the yoga holiday we will be providing you with a lot more detailed information about the holiday including transfers options from Dalaman airport, the address of our hotel in Faralya and contact details for other guests.

VISA

UK Citizens travelling to Turkey require an e-visa before departure. This replaces the old system of paying on arrival in country.


The cost of the Yoga Holiday includes:

  • 8 nights accommodation
  • 10 yoga classes of different lengths and content
  • 8 breakfast &  7 dinners (This will include one group evening meal at The Olive Garden)

  • The cost of this 8 night yoga holiday is £650 per person for a shared twin or double room & £950 for a single occupancy cottage.
